Church Teachings and Expectations

The Church teachings about this pilgrimage are very serious, sacred and it comes from Mary. The Holy See, which is associated with the Pope and the Church, officially approved the apparition of Mary in La Salette on the 16th of November, 1851. “If My people do not obey God, I shall be forced to let go of My Sons Hand” - Mary teaches us that there are a lot of people in our world that is sinning and is disobeying God. This teaches us that we need to be more devoted to God and stop slacking off and sinning.

On the 150th anniversary of this apparition, Pope John Paul II sent a letter to Msgr Louis Dafaux, who was the bishop of Grenoble. The letter was about the actual apparition and included interviews with witnesses about the apparition, reports from investigators, reactions of people and  the media.

When I go to this pilgrimage sight, I expect to learn a lot of things. I expect to learn how to become closer to God and to help those in need. I also expect to learn more about Mary and surprisingly more about myself. I would learn how to strengthen my faith as well as get a much deeper understanding of Christianity. I expect to learn how to become a better person in any way possible and follow in the footsteps of Mary, Jesus and God.

What's a Marian Apparition? How does it Relate to Pilgrimages?

A Marian apparition means the appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary with proof of the actual event. A pilgrimage is known for a sighting of someone holy, Our Lady of La Salette is known as a Marian apparition site. People visit this pilgrimage because it is very holy as Mary herself had appeared there. The apparition of Mary is very holy and sacred to people which has attracted a lot of attention. It has attracted a lot of people including the media, especially Christians and the Church. It started getting a lot more attention when it was made an official Marian site and was recognised by the Church.

The relationship between the Marian apparition and the pilgrimage site is very important. These Marian apparitions aren't just random, they are meant to be. Any apparition gives us hope and faith. Without the Marian apparition, this site wouldn't be much of a pilgrimage. The Marian Apparition is what makes this site a pilgrimage. People visit this pilgrimage so that they can feel holy, seek faith and pray. The main thing is that people visit this pilgrimage because it is known for this Marian apparition.

The Importance of this Pilgrimage Site to Christians

Our Lady of La Salette was recognised in September. On the 19th of September, there was an apparition of Mary in La Salette France to 2 children. Mary told the 2 that if the people keep disobeying God, she would have to let go of Jesus. Mary told them that to prevent the people would have to make Sundays their rest day, do penance, turn away from evil habits and pray a lot. Praying was the main thing that Mary wanted from the people. She then told the 2 to spread the news that she had told them. Everybody in town heard of this and they started to do what Mary said to do. It helped them as Christians to become closer to God and strengthen their faith.

This pilgrimage is important because to Christians because it has made people feel more connected to their faith it has also strengthened it and taught people more about Mary. It is said that Mary always listens to your prayers and will do something about it. It is very important to Christians because it is known that she can cure people who are very sick. She has cured and healed people as a result of people praying to her. In conclusion, this pilgrimage site is very important to Christians as it is a very sacred and holy site, it strengthens their faith as well as their relationship with Mary and it helps them to be closer to God.
