Church Teachings and Expectations

The Church teachings about this pilgrimage are very serious, sacred and it comes from Mary. The Holy See, which is associated with the Pope and the Church, officially approved the apparition of Mary in La Salette on the 16th of November, 1851. “If My people do not obey God, I shall be forced to let go of My Sons Hand” - Mary teaches us that there are a lot of people in our world that is sinning and is disobeying God. This teaches us that we need to be more devoted to God and stop slacking off and sinning.

On the 150th anniversary of this apparition, Pope John Paul II sent a letter to Msgr Louis Dafaux, who was the bishop of Grenoble. The letter was about the actual apparition and included interviews with witnesses about the apparition, reports from investigators, reactions of people and  the media.

When I go to this pilgrimage sight, I expect to learn a lot of things. I expect to learn how to become closer to God and to help those in need. I also expect to learn more about Mary and surprisingly more about myself. I would learn how to strengthen my faith as well as get a much deeper understanding of Christianity. I expect to learn how to become a better person in any way possible and follow in the footsteps of Mary, Jesus and God.
